Policies

Studio Policies & General Information

TARDINESS: Promptness is essential due to the importance of a complete warm-up. It will then be up to the teacher’s discretion if there is an adequate amount of warm-up left for the student to participate in class.  Dance Etiquette: When entering into a class tardy, the student should ask permission to participate.

ABSENCE: Please call the studio if your child will be absent from class. Your instructor will give you optional classes for a make-up class.   Dance Etiquette: Technique is a progression that builds from class to class. Excessive absences will inhibit a dancer’s growth.

NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL: You are responsible for payment of all classes your student (s) is/are enrolled in until a withdrawal is filled out, submitted and signed by the director.  Missed lessons cannot be used in place of payment; no adjustments or credit will be given for missed classes.

FAMILY DISCOUNTS:

A 10% discount will be applied to a second   immediate family member’s class. Lowest class amount will receive the discount.

A Family with three (3) or more immediate family members taking classes will receive 10% off the total tuition amount.

SIBLINGS: VDC is not responsible for siblings in the waiting room areas.   Please make sure that all siblings are well supervised and are not disruptive to the learning environment.

APPEARANCE: Viera Dance Conservatory maintains a specific Dress Code (see Dress Code Chart). Dance Etiquette: Uniformity is important to the discipline and development of a dancer. Absolutely NO T-shirts, shorts, sweatpants or sweatshirts are to be worn in class except Hip-Hop.  Hiding behind over-sized clothing inhibits the teacher’s ability to correct body placement.

Viera Dance Conservatory offers, at competitive prices, all appropriate dance attire as a courtesy.  However, you are under no obligation to purchase your dance attire at Viera Dance Conservatory.
Student’s hair must be securely fastened away from the neck and face. Dance Etiquette: Hair in Bun is required.

Jewelry should not be worn to class. Dance Etiquette: Jewelry becomes a distraction to younger children and hazardous to older children due to more intricate dancing.  Students must refrain from chewing gum; it is a choking hazard.

ANTIBULLYING/HARRASMENTAt the Viera Dance Conservatory, we strive to maintain a positive learning environment that is free from all forms of harassment, bullying and intimidation and is also free from inappropriate behavior that may be offensive to others.  We have a zero tolerance anti-harassment policy and we will not tolerate any form of harassment, bullying or intimidation that creates a hostile or offensive environment at the studio.  This policy applies to faculty, students, parents and visitors to the studio.  Any student asked to leave the studio due to the bullying and/or harassment will forfeit any paid tuition and is liable for any outstanding accounts.
VISITORSVisitors are always welcome at the studio.  However, the Viera Dance Conservatory strives to maintain a positive learning institution in which we ask that visitors to refrain from loitering and will be asked to leave premises.
INJURIES/ILLNESSESIf there are any injuries or illnesses that require the students to have to take some time off from dancing, the parent must provide VDC with a doctor’s note before the student can return to class.
TEMPORARY DROP-OUTSWe are responsible to give continued training to the students who attend class.  We cannot old back the entire class for a student who drops out temporarily.  There is a $25.00 renewal registration fee and the student will be placed in the appropriate class.  If the student would like to return to the original class ( providing there is still room in the class) private lessons may be needed.
